Become a School Governor

Help shape the future of Twyford Church of England School

Could your skills, experience and enthusiasm help make a difference to the lives of our pupils?

We’re looking for passionate and committed volunteers to join our governing body and help shape the future of Twyford Church of England School.

Being a school governor is a rewarding opportunity to give something back to your community, share your expertise and play a meaningful role in helping our school flourish. Working alongside the headteacher and school leaders, governors help set the school’s strategic direction, champion high standards and ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and reach their full potential.

What could you bring to our school?

We’d love to hear from people who have:

  • A passion for education and a genuine interest in children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
  • An open mind and fresh perspective, with the confidence to ask questions, offer constructive challenge and listen to different viewpoints.
  • Skills and experience to share, perhaps in finance, marketing, health and safety, property management, GDPR or other areas that could benefit our school.
  • Time and commitment to attend meetings, read relevant papers and contribute to the work of the governing body.
  • A belief in our Christian ethos and values, and a desire to support the vision and values at the heart of our school.

You don’t need to be an education expert or have previous experience as a governor. What matters most is your willingness to get involved, contribute your perspective and help our school provide the best possible opportunities for its pupils. Training and support will be available.

What does being a school governor involve?

Governors work collectively with the headteacher and the wider school community to help the school succeed. Acting as critical friends, they celebrate achievements, support school leaders, ask thoughtful questions and help ensure that decisions are made in the best interests of every pupil.

It’s a chance to learn new skills, broaden your experience and make a lasting, positive contribution to the community.
