British Values Statement

In 2011, the government defined British Values as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. We promote these values through our school vision, values and aims, our curriculum and teaching and learning strategies, and the enrichment activities in which our pupils participate.

We aim to enable students to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence.

Through our expectations and guidance we ensure pupils can distinguish right from wrong and respect the civil and criminal law of England.

We encourage pupils to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative, and to understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in the locality of the school and to society beyond their community.

We teach tolerance and harmony by enabling students to acquire an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures.

Through our values curriculum we encourage respect for all people regardless of race, sex, physical or intellectual need or religion.
