School visit by the author Anthony Lishak

We were treated to an inspiring World Book Day event when the author and creative writing expert Antony Lishak visited school on Monday 13th March. The children from Reception and Key Stage One were all involved in Antony’s presentation of his rhyming, counting puzzle book “Clickety Clack Something To Pack”, helping him pack his suitcase and then designing their own suitcases with all manner of interesting items. The nursery children thoroughly enjoyed rowing their boats, flying their planes and driving their cars to Antony’s reading. Later, Antony spoke to Key Stage Two about the process of writing and how his books are based on his own experiences. He even set them homework to write a short story based on an experience in their own life! Year 5 & 6 are looking forward to continuing their work with Antony on his book ”Stars”, a story set in Warsaw at the beginning of World War Two about a Jewish boy, his best friend and the animals of Warsaw Zoo.

At the end of the day Antony very kindly signed books and answered questions rounding off a fantastic day.
